Koh Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi is another one of Thailand's perfectly picturesque islands. Best Pad Thai ever from a street vendor - not sure if we can eat it at home in California anymore, how can it compare?




We saw a lot of pictures (and even postcards for sale with pics????) of the damage from the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. To our eyes, the island seemed "normal," but there are still repairs and rebuilds taking place. We hiked up one of the hills to overlook the isthmus where the main town, Ton Sai, is located. Apparently, the waves came in from both bays during the tsunami. We took this picture at low tide --- can't imagine what it would have been like as two giant waves collided in the middle...
